The objective of the project is the research on of low-cost components for fuel cell (FC-) systems and electric drive systems which can be used in future hybridised FC-vehicles (medium term objective) and ICE vehicles.

visit website As the leading brand-independent partner of the automotive industry, MAGNA STEYR Fahrzeugtechnik AG & Co KG (MSF, Austria) develops complete vehicles as well as vehicle components and manufactures complete vehicles and vehicle components for special requirements and niche markets. Since 1988, MSF has been actively involved in developing alternative fuel and drive-train solutions. At the beginning of the 90ies, a special powertrain with electric motor and an electronically controlled two-stage transmission was developed. This drive unit was used for an electric vehicle based on the Fiat Panda. Later development projects included a one-stage transmission for BMW, a complete electric vehicle based on the VW Golf and a Mercedes C-Class electric taxi. Recently, the transmission for the Opel Zafira Fuel Cell Vehicle was developed and supplied and a research vehicle with fuel cell / electric drive was built.
